Board members for the society include Freddi Sokoloff, Candace Mitchell, Jerry Noble, Michael Parr, Debby Stokely, and Brian Mitchell.
Mitchell will serve as president of the board, with Sokoloff serving as treasurer.
According to Mitchell, the board is currently in the process of forming a non-profit corporation, which will allow the team to begin accepting tax-deductible donations from the public.
A Web site and mailing address has also been set up for the organization. The Internet site is kahs08@gmail.com, and the mailing address is K.A.H.S., P.O. Box 153, Kennett, Mo., 63857.
"The purpose of this meeting and this society is to further the cause of animal health and welfare in Kennett and surrounding areas," explained Brian Mitchell, president.
"This is a movement that, in the board's opinion, needs to be kicked-started and, turbo-charged."
The Daily Dunklin Democrat will be releasing further details as they come available. Interested individuals may also visit the Mitchell Oxygen booth at the Delta Fair for more information or to donate to the cause.

who will be the vet in charge of these animals?
Will it be a kill shelter or a rescue shelter?
I know that some dogs have to be put down for illness and that is a given, but if a dog were to come there with mange that is curable will he or she be put down or will the vet isolate the animal and cure the mange?
Will you give a discount to rescue groups?
I ask these question due to personal reasons I have donated and will continue to donate if it is a no kill shelter. If it is a kill shelter I will donate my money every month to a no kill shelter
I am into animal rescues and we do get shelters that call us to come and get the breed out for free or for a small fee.
I think this is wonderful
