Dallas "Flat" Hefner, 94, of Qulin, Mo., died Friday, Aug. 29, 2008, at his residence.
Born Aug. 27, 1914, in Clay County, Ark., son of the late Cossie and Cassie Rodery Hefner, he was a machine operator for Butler County and former mayor of Qulin.
On Nov. 2, 1934, in Piggott, Ark., he married Helen Anglee Osborn, who preceded him in death on March 24, 2001. He was also preceded in death by one son, Jerry Hefner; two sisters; four brothers and one great-grandson, Jarrod Hefner.
Survivors include two daughters, Freda Bruemmer and husband, Henry, of Florissant, Mo., and Margie Austin and husband, Curtis, of St. Louis, Mo.; one son, Landon Hefner and wife, Carol, of O'Fallon, Mo.; one brother, Cleatus Hefner, of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; a daughter-in-law, Frances Hefner, of Poplar Bluff; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 31, in the Qulin Cemetery with James Powell officiating.
Landess Funeral Home in Campbell, Mo., was in charge of arrangements.
