Kennett police officers arrested a 22-year-old Kennett man for burglarizing two homes on Sunday, Aug. 24, 2008.

At approximately 2:15 a.m., officers were dispatched to the residence of Rebecca Jewell to investigate a possible burglary.

According to a report filed by the Kennett Police Department (KPD), when officer Philip Caldwell arrived, Jewell stated she had been awaken by her dogs barking and noticed a screen had been pushed in and a door had been unlocked.

As Caldwell checked the area, he noticed a set of footprints in the wet grass. He followed the footprints until he reached the Osborn Addition where he saw a white man in the front yard of 800 Osborn.

Caldwell commanded the man to stop but the man began running. After a foot pursuit, Caldwell caught the man, identified as Jonathan Snider, of Kennett, and arrested him.

After searching Snider, Caldwell located a wallet belonging to Jerry Combs, of Kennett, in Snider's pocket.

Police then went to Combs' residence and found that a window in a door had been broken and the house had been entered. Police awakened Combs' and he confirmed the burglary had taken place.

Snider is currently being held in the Dunklin County Jail in lieu of a $50,000 bond.

Glad the perp was caught. Anyone whom enters occupied homes to commit crimes, is a very dangerous individual indeed. OTOH, he should consider himself lucky not to have been another city morgue entry, some people do not suffer fools gladly.

Does Kennett have a city morgue?

Is it just me or has Kennett really become a cesspool? Really hate to say it, but not really looking forward to raising my kid here.

Maybe he's been the one who burgled other homes in Kennett in the past few months.
