Lola Irene McNew, 88, of Senath, Mo., died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, at National HealthCare in Kennett.
Born Sept. 27, 1919, in Senath, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Ethel Phillips Baker.
On Jan. 9, 1937, in Senath, she married Lloyd McNew, who preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 1994. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Leo Baker, L.T. Baker, J.D. Baker and Lee Wayne Baker and five sisters, Gertie Whitehead, Zetta McNew, Frances Edwards, Lottie Creed and Ola Greer.
Survivors include one son, Ronald McNew and wife, Linda, of Senath; two daughters, Betty Smith, of Senatobia, Miss., and JoAnn Gentry and husband, Harold, of Jackson, Mo.; two sisters, Opal Greer, of Paragould, Ark., and Ruth Hansen, of Troy, Mich.; 11 grandchildren, Timothy Wayne Smith, Preston Paul Smith and wife, Mia, Jason Wade Smith and Suzy, Brain Carl Smith and Alisha, Angela Smith, Anthony (Tony) Gentry, Tammy Wampler and Greg, Michele Lands and husband, Jeff, Sondra Hickson and husband, Scottie, Nichole Nelson and husband, Greg, and Brittany Luppy and husband, Michael; 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild and many other friends and relatives.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., today, Wednesday, Aug. 20, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Senath with Scottie Hickson officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers were Timothy Wayne Smith, Preston Paul Smith, Jason Wade Smith, Brian Carl Smith, Angela Smith, Anthony Gentry, Tammy Wampler, Michele Lands, Sondra Hickson, Nichole Nelson and Brittany Luppy.
