Born Sept. 2, 1931, in Torch, Mo., son of the late Jesse Abner and Clara Ella Sutton Elder, he was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War, and was retired from General Motors.
On Jan. 12, 1952, in Campbell, he married Billie Elsie Dye, who preceded him in death on Jan. 20, 2006.
Survivors include five daughters, Peggy Largent and husband, B.D., of Pangburn, Ark., Debra Specht and husband, Jeff, of Memphis, Tenn., Darla Pease and husband, David, of Flint, Mich., Kathy Oliver and husband, John, of Newalla, Okla., and Donna Chew and husband, Charly, of Chesterfield, N.J.; two brothers, Bill and Hanford Elder, both of Naylor, Mo.; two sisters, Bonnie Jones, of Coldwater, Mich., and July Kennedy, of Seattle, Wash.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, at the Landess Funeral Home in Campbell.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m., Friday, Aug. 22, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel with Jeff Specht officiating.
Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery-Landess Addition at Campbell.
