Lucretia Smith
Lucretia Smith, of Nixa, Mo., previously of Campbell, Mo., departed this earthly home to her Heavenly Home, to reside with her Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, on Aug. 10, 2008, at 9:05 a.m., at the age of 100 years, 9 months, and 5 days. She passed away in the Mercy Villa Nursing Home in Springfield, Missouri.

She was born on Nov. 5th, 1907, in Greene County, Ark., near the town of Paragould, Ark., the daughter of Rev. Logan Franklin Hicks and Isabelle Bohner Hicks. She was nicknamed "Creasy". At some time, during her early life, she moved to Missouri, and spent most of her life in the area of Campbell and Gibson.

On June 28, 1925, she married Eligah Earnest Smith, at St. Francis, in Clay County, Ark. To this union, two daughters were born; Ruth Elaine and Doris Jean.

Lucretia and her husband were farmers until they semi-retired. After their so called retirement, they did odd jobs, gardened and helped their neighbors and the sick and elderly. They were proud of their garden and shared the fruits of their labor with others. This was a part of their earthly ministry. They loved helping others.

Lucretia surrendered her life to Christ in the mid 1940's and was baptized in the St. Francis River at Brown's Ferry, just west of Holcomb, Mo. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church, in Campbell, Mo. for over fifty years. In May, 1998, she moved to Nixa, Mo., to live with her daughter Doris Jean Landrum and her husband, G.W., at which time she joined the Macedonia Baptist Church, in Springfield, and was a faithful member until health prevented her from regular attendance. However, she remained a steady prayer warrior until God called her home.

In addition to her parents, Logan and Amanda Hicks, Lucretia was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-four years, Eligah (Lige) Smith, her daughter, Ruth Elaine (Smith) McGinnis, granddaughter, Marie (Davis) Kestening, two sisters, Ethel (Hicks) Proffer and Ruth (Hicks) Ricks; one brother, Harry Hicks and one half brother, John Head.

W.; six grandchildren, Georgia Jean (Landrum) Ladd and husband, Tony, Ronald Keith Landrum and wife, Ann, Lou Ella (Davis) Boise and husband, Doug, Marshall Ray (Butch) McGinnis and wife, Renee, Danny McGinnis and wife, Cheryl, and Timmy McGinnis and wife, Anna; 17 great grandchildren; Jeffrey Wayne Ladd and wife, Tammy, Rebecca Lynn (Ladd) Rathburn and husband, Claude, Eric Ladd, Dustin Landrum, Haley Landrum, Zach Bryan and wife, Kayla, Cody Bryan, Robin Hager, Cliff Hager, Sheila (Hager) Rotolo, Tiffany McGinnis, Angel McGinnis, Derrick McGinnis, Maria McGinnis, Stephanie McGinnis, Rachel McGinnis and Louria McGinnis; also, a host of great, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
