She was born Aug. 9, 1923, in Kennett, daughter of Herman and Nettie Carter. She moved to Stockton in 1961 with her husband, Milford Mungle, who preceded her in death in 1989 after 47 years of devoted marriage. Her life's work is reflected in her family, her faith and her caring for others. She worked for many years at Dameron Hospital and later ministered to Alzheimer patients at Golden Haven.
She is survived by her sister, Betty Joyce Carter; daughters, Barbara Ghilarducci (Len), Carol Scott (Mark), and Jo Ann Armstrong (Stephen Kozel); sons, Jim Mungle (Janis) and Roger Mungle; daughter-in-law, Lana Mungle; 11 grandchildren, Hunter (Jessica), Eric (Gina), Lynette (Cary), Jaime (Jay) Melinda, Matthew, Jenny, Michele, Francien, R.J. (Terina), and Gordon (Terri); 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and Carter family nieces, Pam, Cathy and Tammy and nephew, Ricky.
Hester will be missed and always honored by her family and friends.
Memorial services were held at 3 p.m., Monday, Aug. 11, at the Evergreen Chapel in Cherokee Memorial Park, Lodi.
