Jessie Mae Shelly, 82, of Hayti, Mo., died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Born Sept. 10, 1925, on 14 Bend in Pemiscot County, Mo., she was a 1947 graduate of Hayti High School, a homemaker and a member of the Glass Memorial Baptist Church.
On De. 31, 1947, in Hernando, Miss., she married Thadious O'Neal Shelly, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Stella Allen, Blanche Chambers and Pat Glass and one brother, Leo Glass.
Survivors include three sons, Thadious Stephen Shelly and wife, Beverly, of Jefferson City, Mo., and Dewayne O'Neal Shelly and wife, Kim and Phillip Lane Shelly and wife, Lorene, all of Hayti; one brother, Henry Glass and wife, Jean, of Hayti; seven grandchildren, Robin Morris, of Fort Bragg, N.C., Stephanie Osburn, of Jefferson City, Mo., Kara Crisp, of St. Louis, Mo., Joshua and Jessica Shelly, both of Hayti and Jenny and O'Neal Shelly, both of Caruthersville, Mo. and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 9, at the Glass Memorial Church in the Black Island community at Hayti with Brother Don Tims officiating.
Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Hayti.
Pallbearers were Adam Gilbert, Tony Sample, Tim McCrary, Malcolm Babb, and Josh and O'neal Shell.
John W. German Funeral Home of Hayti was in charge of arrangements.
