Born April 21, 1917, in Caruth, Mo., son of the late J.W. "Pete" and Nettie "Sanders" Gargas, he was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in WWII, and was owner of a cotton gin .
On Jan. 18, 1941, he married Bonnie Sue Brice, who survives.
Survivors also include two sons, Paul Sanders Gargas, Jr., of Memphis, Tenn., and David Brice Gargas of Dyersburg, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Lorris Davis and husband, Mark, of Piggott, Ark., Ed Gargas and wife, Tina, of Dexter, Mo., Bob Gargas and wife, Toni, of Kansas City, Kan., and Stephanie White and husband, Phillip, of Steele, Mo., and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Frank Gargas and one sister, Merle Porterfield.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 9, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with Spencer Furby officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers were Ed and Rob Gargas, Mark Davis, Phillip White and Jimmy and Bob Brice.
Honorary pallbearers were Ted Gargas, Tite Williams, Joe Pelts, Bob Winston, W.H. Houston, Wes Sutton, Brady Robinson and Bob Simmons.
