James Montgomery

James Arthur "Bud" Montgomery, 83, of Gideon, Mo., died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Born March 19, 1925, in Greenville, Mo., son of the late Leroy and Rosetta Masters Montgomery, he was owner of Montgomery Auto Sales in Gideon and was of the General Baptist faith.

He married Janie Jones, who survives.

Survivors also include five sons, Tim Montgomery and wife, Terri, Jackie Montgomery and wife, Debbie, James Alan Montgomery and wife, Anna, and Jeremy Montgomery and wife, Onna, all of Gideon and Eugene Montgomery and wife, Donna, of Calvert City, Ill.; six daughters, Rosie Nowotony, of Spiro, Okla., Susie Montogemery and husband, Kirk, and Amanda Youngblood and husband, Charles, all of Gideon, Barbara Rinehart and husband, Eddie, of Clarkton, Mo., Linda Swavey, of Colorado and Shirley Fletcher, of Columbia, Mo.; two brothers, Claude Montgomery, of Gideon and Jim Montgomery, of Clarkton; 33 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Michael and Clifford Montgomery; one daughter, Geraldine Gribble; two sisters, Virginia Wood and Geneva Boyet; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m., today, Thursday, Aug. 7, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Gideon.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 8, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Cleo Payne officiating.

Burial will follow in the New Prospect Cemetery at Silva, Mo.
