Jesse Wayne Speight, 61, died Friday, July 25, 2008, at Baptist East Memorial Hospital in Germantown, Tenn.
Born May 28, 1947, at Blytheville, Ark., son of the late Arden Speight and Ester Inez Goodrum Speight, he retired from AmerenUE in 200. He was a farmer at the time of his death. He graduated from Caruthersville High School and attened Memphis State University at Memphis, Tenn.He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Caruthersville, Mo, and a former member and president of the R-III School Board.
On September 7, 1968, at Caruthersville, he married Gail SuWan Bennett, who survives.
Survivors include one daughter, Kimberly SuWan Speight Nordyke, and husband Brett, of Los Angeles, Calif., one son, Timothy Wayne Speight, and wife Verena, of Md.; one brother, Earl Arden Speight, of Memphis; one grandson, Ryan Wayne Speight, of Md.
Funeral services were held on Monday, July 28, at the First Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Paul Currie officiating.
Interment was in Little Prairie Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Billy Speight, Brett Nordyke, Paul Russell, Billy Powell, Bobby Powell, Ted Streete, and John Clyde Thompson.
