Billy Spooner

Billy Wayne Spooner passed away Aug. 1, 2008, after a lengthy illness. Bill was born May 12, 1923, in Lockhart, La. He was raised and attended school in El Dorado, Ark. His early career was spent in Monroe, La. He moved his family to Kennett, to go in to the automobile business with his brother-in-law there. He was an owner and manager of Spooner Auto Parts and Expert Auto Center in Kennett for many years before returning to El Dorado. He and his wife moved to Natchitoches, La., in 2007, to be near their daughter and son-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Calvin and Sula Risinger Spooner; his brother, Donald Richard Spooner and his son Jeffery Clyde Spooner. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Lindsey Spooner; his daughter, Susan Spooner Gunther and her husband, Timothy Scott Gunther, along with two aunts and several nieces and nephews.

He was a fun-loving, jovial and kind person as well as a wonderful, caring husband, father and friend. He will be missed by many.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 8, at Perry's Funeral Chapel in El Dorado, Ark., with Tyler Williams officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the First Presbyterian Church, 114 Bienville St., Natchitoches, La. 71457, or to the charity of your choice.
