Born July 17, 1933, in Malden, son of the late James Homer "Shorty" and Lemma Harris Johnson, he was part owner of Patty Cake Bakery in Malden, a church builder and he also worked at Houchins Donuts in Sikeston, Mo. He was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Malden.
On Dec. 9, 1951, in Malden, he married Pat McGill Johnson, who preceded him in death on Nov. 2, 2006.
Survivors include two daughters, Susie Hays and husband, Eric, of Malden and Sherry Johnson, of Sikeston; one son, Jim Johnson and wife, Anne, of League City, Texas; one brother, Charles Johnson and wife, Wanda, of Malden; two sisters, Marilee Jacobitz and husband, Wayne and Martha Singleton, all of Clinton, Ill.; two granddaughters, Susan McCormick, of Ozark, Mo., and Meredith Garris, of Malden; three great-granddaughters, Lexi and Ashley Lambott and Kailee Garris and two step-great-grandsons, Parker and Case McCormick.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., today, Thursday, July 31, at the Landess Funeral Home in Malden.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 1, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jack Allen and Howard Winberry and Mr. Bill Hampton officiating.
Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden.
