Benny 'Ben' Byron Toole, Sr.

Benny (Ben) Byron Toole, Sr. 77 of Homosassa, Fla., passed away on July 22, 2008 under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County.

He was born in Holcomb, Mo., son of the late Odie Vance and Olla Belle Ham Toole. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Owen, Boyce and Gary.

Mr. Toole served in the U. S. Navy, during the Korean War. He received a Bachelors degree from Arkansas State University, a Masters degree from University of North Carolina and a Doctorate in public administration from Nova University in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

He served as Executive Director at Adams County Mental Health Center Quincy, Ill. from 1965 to 1976, then became Executive Director of South County Mental Health Center in Delray Beach, Fla., retiring in 1993. He was an adjunct professor at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Fla. for nine years.

Mr. Toole was an avid fisherman and always included a fishing expedition on his vacation travels.

Ben is survived by his wife of 51 years, Barbara A. Fletcher, daughter Gail Sink, of Houston, Texas; sons, Byron Toole (Johanna), of St. Paul, Minn. Wade Toole (Virginia), of Ft. Pierce, Fla.; six grandchildren, Lisa Sink, Valerie (John) Worthington, Christina (Garrett) Alexander, Jeffrey Toole, Carrie Toole, Sara Jayne Toole; three great grandchildren, Elijah, Kaiya, and Isaiah Alexander.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Citrus County. Interment will take place August 2, in Kennett, Mo.

Hooper Funeral Home in Inverness, Fla. is in charge of arrangements.
