The county has been awarded $400,000 for straight water system improvements for New Madrid County Public Water Supply District No. 4. The PWSD is responsible for customer service, water quality, conservation, and other water programs.
"I am pleased the state can award these resources to help improve the quality of life in these communities," Gov. Matt Blunt said in announcing the grant. "I look forward to initiating the start of these projects and providing the necessary assistance toward successful completion."
"Public water supply districts provide a great service to the citizens of this state," said state Sen. Rob Mayer. R-Dexter, who district includes the county. "New Madrid County PWSD No. 4 protects our most precious resource by setting a standard for utility excellence and providing a high quality, reliable water supply with superior service and value."
