Third Town consists of Fairchild, "Little Tony," and Tony Motsi, who auditioned for a spot on the reality television talent competition where country singers and groups compete to see who will be a Nashville Star.
The inspiring part about their first auditions for the show, which took place in San Antonio, Texas; Pigeon Forge Tenn.; and finally, in Las Vegas, Nev., was that although they were originally told they did not make the show's top 12, the group never gave up hoping for success.
Carrying a feeling inside him that indicated something just wasn't right about initially being rejected, Fairchild continued to work hard in the recording studio and relied on his gut instinct and faith to produce something positive out of what seemed like a negative situation.
"I just knew that something good was going to happen for us this time," Fairchild said of his instinctual feeling that good news was on the way.
One evening while Fairchild was at home watching television his phone rang. On the other end of the line was a producer from the television show asking for Jeffery Fairchild of Third Town.
After a brief introduction, the producer went on to explain that the Nashville Star producers wanted Third Town to come back and be on the show as one of the top 12 groups.
Fairchild and his band members were given only a few hours to make their decision and were advised that if they wanted to come out, a plane would be waiting for them at the airport.
"You're flight leaves in three hours," the producer said.
"Is this a joke," Fairchild replied.
After approximately five minutes of convincing evidence submitted by the producer, indicating that she was, in fact, offering him a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, Fairchild knew the call was for real.
Third Town was back, according to Fairchild.
After making the calls to "Little Tony" and Tony Motsi, everyone was on board with the plan.
According to Fairchild, he and his band mates were running on pure adrenaline from the moment he hung up the phone until they arrived at Nashville Star.
"We couldn't sleep on the plane from all of the excitement and when we did arrive it was straight to the studio where we recorded that night," Fairchild said. "I think it was around 60 hours that we had been awake before we actually took a break."
Third Town was unveiled on the June 6 Nashville Star episode.
Unfortunately the next time they would perform on stage would be during the June 16 live performance where Third Town performed their rendition of Elvira and was voted off.
"We were voted off, which was disappointing," Fairchild said. "But we had a lot of fun and it was a great experience."
Although Third Town was eliminated on episode two, they are likely to still travel with Nashville Star, in the event everything goes as planned and a tour takes place.
They are also allowed to re-tryout for the show if they wanted to bring back Third Town for the next season.
For now, Third Town is back in their home of Las Vegas and continues to record in the studio and perform, while also juggling promotional meetings and appearances.
