Born Nov. 15, 1917, in Hamilton, Ala., daughter of the late Forbie and Mattie Sudduth Ballard, she was employed at Ely Walker for 18 years and was a volunteer at Twin Rivers Regional Hospital for 17 years. She was a charter member of Third Street Baptist Church in Kennett for 58 years.
On March 13, 1934, in Hamilton, she married John Abercrumbie, who preceded her in death on May 17, 1979.
Survivors include one son, Willie Ray Abercrumbie, of Chesapeake Bay, Md.; two daughters, Genece Lance and husband, Jack, of Kennett and Joyce Neely, of Senath, Mo.; three sisters, Gladys Foster, Hazel Nix and husband, Olen, and Ruth Isom and husband, Max, all of Hamilton; special relative, Karen Abercrumbie Scott; four grandchildren, Gregory and Vennie Lance, Susan Abmeyer and Patti Jones and four great-grandchildren, Trey and Laura Lee Abmeyer and Katie and Clint Jones.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, June 27, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 28, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Bud Evans and Jason Bowen officiating.
Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers are Danny Poole, Otis Wake, Roger Statler, Jimmy Akers, Donnie Brooks and Dallas Allen.
Honorary pallbearers are Mrs. Gertie's Sunday School Class.
