Born April 8, 1937, in Wardell, Mo., daughter of the late Oscar Dale and Lula Brown Gaskins, she was a member of the Huey Mission Baptist Church in Gideon.
On July 9, 1954, in Caruthersville, Mo., she married Carl Newton, who survives.
Survivors also include two sons, Ricky Newton and wife, Yulonda, of Kennett and Larry Newton, of Gideon; three brothers, Harry and Gary Gaskins, both of Sikeston and Roy Gaskins, of Kansas City, Mo.; six sisters, Katherine Lentz, of Ashley, Ill., Betty Sharp and Judy White, both of Park Hills, Mo., Inez Gaskins, of Clarkton, Mo., Lottie Garrett, of Greenville, Mo., and Ruby Gaskins, of Phoenix, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Carl "Peanut" and Henry Newton; one daughter, Linda Newton; one brother, James Gaskins and one sister, Lillie Howell.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m., Wednesday, June 11, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, June 12, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jack Allen and Raymond Cowart officiating.
Burial will follow in the Stanfield Cemetery at Clarkton.
