Melba Maxcine Byrn, 81, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at her residence.
Born July 13, 1926, in Caruthersville, daughter of the late Lonnie Elmer and Patsy Leone Wilbanks Bennett, she was a 1944 graduate of Caruthersville High School and was employed at Wal-Mart.
On March 22, 1946, in Caruthersville, she married Albert Marvin Byrn, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one son, John Marvin; three brothers, Bob, Bill and Benny Bennett and two sisters, Peggy and Cindia.
Survivors include four daughters, Patricia Byrn, of Caruthersville, Catherine Byrn, of Evansville, Ind., Joyce Byrn, of Steele, Mo., and Jane Lowes and husband, Steve, of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; two sisters, Barbara Nolan and husband, Paul and Darla Goerke, all of Sahuarita, Ariz.; one brother, Richard Don, of Dayton, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 6, at the Sacred Heart Church in Caruthersville with Father Randolph Tochtrop officiating.
Burial was in the Little Prairie Cemetery.
Pallbearers were grandsons and great-grandsons, Benjamin and Timothy Hilburn, Andy and Joe Byrn, T.J. Harris and Zack Abbott.
H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.
