Pearl Susan Johnson, 84, of Sedalia, Mo., died Saturday, May 31, 2008 at Four Seasons Living Center.
She was born Oct. 29, 1923, in Clifton, Tenn., the daughter of Hershel and Leby Ray Hickerson. On June 21, 1941 in Arbyrd, Mo., she was married to Parker Thompson who preceded her in death on March 30, 1945. On April 17, 1946 in Arbyrd, she was married to Martin Johnson who preceded her in death on April 1, 1990.
Mrs. Johnson was raised and educated in Arbyrd. She lived most of her life in St. Louis, Mo. She worked as a beautician for 40 years and owned two beauty salons in St. Louis and one in Arbyrd. She moved to Sedalia in 1990. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are two daughters, Brenda Eckhoff and her husband, Don, of Smithton, Mo., and Linda Ayres and husband, Ron, of Springfield, Mo.; three sisters, Marie McClarty, of Lilbourn, Mo., Shirley Henderson and Sue Mantei, both of St, Charles, Mo., and seven grandchildren, Joy Dickinson, Gaye Hiller, Tammy Fowler, Marcus Ayres, Sean Ayres, Shannon Ayres and Melissa Ayres.
She was also predeceased by an infant son; a brother, Hillard Hickerson; and two sisters in childhood.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 2008 at Salem Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Drew Hill and Rev. Dr. Eddie Brown officiating.
Pallbearers will be Marcus Ayres, Brian Dickinson, Chris Dickinson, Rob Stevenson, Bobby Lee Shane and Andy Moulton.
There will be no visitation.
