Mildred M. Bridges, 85, of Malden, Mo., died Sunday, May 25, 2008, at Golden Living Center in Malden.
Born May 1, 1923, in Risco, Mo., daughter of the late Samuel and Etta Watkins Allen, she was a cafeteria worker in the California school systern. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Malden, but attended the First Church of Nazarene in Malden.
On Sept. 20, 1941, in Malden, she married Lester A. "Doc" Bridges, who preceded her in death on May 27, 2001. She was also preceded in death by one son, Larry Bridges; an infant daughter, Renee Bridges; two brothers, Samuel Allen, Jr., and Marvin Allen; one sister, Lola Mae Allen; a great-grandchild, Abbey Rachel Harris and stepfather, Raymond Love.
Survivors include one daughter, Judy Santie and husband, Phil, of Malden; one son, Mark Allen Bridges and wife, Elizabeth, of Palm Springs, Calif.; one brother, Calvin Allen, of Port Huenome, Calif.; two sisters, Barbara Lew Allen, of Campbell, Mo., and Mary Francis "Sissy" Thomas, of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; eight grandchildren, Wesley Bridges, of Fort Worth, Texas, Lora Bridges, of Farmington, Mo., Jill Bridges, of Independence, Mo., Miayh Beaird and Sabrina Harris, both of Malden, Valerie Bridges, of Gilbert, Ariz., Heidi Kiwitt, of Oxnard Calif., and Cameron Bridges, of Palm Springs, Calif., and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., today, Tuesday, May 27, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with the Revs. John Bowlby and Henry Shelly officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden.
