Raymond Smith, 78, of Kennett, died Sunday, May 18, 2008, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Born Sept. 23, 1929, in Swinton, Mo., son of the late Robert E. Lee and Grace Lewis Smith, he was a machine operator at Parker Hannifan Corp.

On June 10, 1959, in Piggott, Ark., he married Joy Bridges, who survives.

Survivors also include one son, Jeff Smith and wife, Jenita, of Kennett; two daughters, Lisa Mahoney and husband, Brad, of Memphis, Tenn., and Laura Jones and husband, Dwayne, of Beaufort, S.C.; six grandchildren, Jill Tidd, Jodi Burke, Christina Steele, Brandon Jones, Braylee Jones and Michael Steele and four great-grandchildren, Brenton and Ayden Tidd and Addison and Zander Burke.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles, Woodrow, Leon and Bobby Smith and one sister, Louise Allen.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, May 21, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.

Funeral services will be held at noon, Wednesday, May 21, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with Spencer Furby officiating.

Burial will follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery at Kennett.

Pallbearers are Brad Mahoney, Jim Tidd, Richie Burke, Brandon Jones, Michael Steele and Dwayne Jones.

Honorary pallbearer is Brenton Tidd.
