Crews from Branum's Disposal Service will start each day promptly at 2 a.m. so all clean-up items need to be placed curbside the day before the scheduled pick-up.
Wheeler said, "Branum's will provide a curbside clean up for each resident within the city limits of Kennett. The pick-up schedule will be one ward per day for five days beginning with ward one and ending with ward five.
"For example, ward one would be on Monday and ward two would be on Tuesday. The following items will be picked up if placed at curbside: Furniture, small carpets, bagged trash, and appliances."
Wheeler also noted that, "all appliances must have the compressors removed and all bagged trash must be in heavy mill trash bags. Appliances that do not have the compressors removed will not be picked up.
"No construction debris will be picked up curbside. Construction debris must be taken to Fire Station No. 1 and put into a roll-off box."
The mayor also indicated that, since burn barrels were outlawed in Kennett in June 2005, none will be picked up during spring clean up.
Further instructions for spring clean-up are:
Electronic equipment [coputers, old televisions, radios, and other such electrical stuff] may be taken to the Kennett Street Department building, located on East Fifth Street. Items must be delivered between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. any day during clean-up week.
Yard waste and tree limbs will not be hauled. These items must be delivered to the compost facility, located on County Road 502, one mile south of Kennett. If one obtains a burn permit, only natural yard waste, not trash, may be burned.
Regarding tires, passenger tires only may be taken to the compost facility located at the address above. The first 750 passenger tires will be received only. People who do not dispose of old tires will be given violation notices after clean-up week.
Regarding paint, pour paint onto garbage bag, large piece of cardboard, or other disposable item and allow to dry. It is now a solid waste and may be disposed of by placing it in a garbage bag and sitting it a curbside for the clean-up crew.
Note: By order of the mayor, yard sale permits will not be required for the May Days Clean-up Week.
Clean-up Week Schedule:
Ward 1 -- Monday, May 19
Ward 2 -- Tuesday, May 20
Ward 3 -- Wednesday, May 21
Ward 4 -- Thursday, May 22
Ward 5 -- Friday, May 23.
