South Elementary School's music teacher, Linda Collins, was very busy celebrating music in many ways.
Three students, including fifth-graders Joe Mobley, Joelle Siebenhuener, and Michael Richmond, sang the national anthem over the school's intercom during morning pledge time.
The fourth and fifth grade classes enjoyed the music and life of Mozart throughout the week.
Sarah Dye's class composed and sang a song for their school nurse, Martha Mobley, for National Nurse's Day.
Many students, according to Collins, made posters for National Music Week and placed them around the school and in local businesses. Fifteen were selected to be photographed for the newspaper.
Some classes went outside for "musical kickball," while others learned how to play lummi sticks. Students reviewed music terms while playing the ZAP game.
The third grade class presented the musical "Westward Ho!" Several students performed the square dance and sang solos, duets, trios, and quartets during the program.
During lunch on Friday, piano students presented "dinner music" in the cafeteria by playing recital songs.
