Born June 25, 1930, in Arbyrd, Mo., son of the late Harvey and Wilie Mae Ray Haygood, he was a U.S. Army veteran having served in Korea and the city marshall for Hornersville. He was a member of the American Legion Post No.362 and a member of the Baptist Church in Hornersville.
On Sept. 12, 1953, in Kennett, he married Peggy Nunnery, who survives.
Survivors also include one daughter, Susan Peterson, of Hornersville; two sisters, Maxine Redman, of Montgomery, Ill., and Dora Glison, of Portageville, Mo.; two grandchildren, Kristy and Cody Payne, of Hornersville and one great-grandchild, Grant Payne, of Hornersville.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, J.D. and Lloyd Haygood and two sisters, Lily Baker and Dorothy Garner.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday, May 11, at the Bradshaw-Emerson Funeral Home in Hornersville.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 11, in the Horner Cemetery at Hornersville with the Rev. Paul Moore officiating.
