A 19-year-old Hornersville man is seeking justice following a viscous assault that occurred when he was beaten and robbed by three other men a week ago today.

Asking to remain anonymous, the victim, with support from his parents, told the Daily Dunklin Democrat that at approximately 2:45 a.m., he was beat up by three males in the parking lot of Pierce Landing, a Swamp Conservation Area located on the edge of the small farming community.

The victim said two of the men were brothers who, with the help from a friend, beat him in the parking lot area near a boat ramp, then chased him until they reached the bridge which is stationed in that area where they continued to beat him.

"Both times they physically assaulted my son, they held him down and took turns punching him," the suspect's mother said. "One would hold him down while the other two continued to hit him."

As if that were not enough, the victim says that, after the first two encounters, he was able to attempt to flee the scene again. According to the victim, he ran for the nearest safe haven, which for him was the Hornersville Housing Authority area on J.D. Young Drive, located very near the area where the attacks began. Unfortunately, the victim was not able to get completely away from the suspects, as he reported that one of the men continued to chase him to the housing area where he continued to attack.

Meanwhile, the other two men broke into the victim's car and stole a number of items, including his wallet that contained cash, checks, debit and credit cards, and an IPOD mp3 player and adapter, as well as various other personal belongings.

According to the victim's mother, the three suspects left the scene after beating and robbing her son and proceeded to Cardwell where they used the stolen debit and credit cards at Riverside and Flash Market for alcohol, cigarettes, and gasoline.

"I suppose the cashiers at these places were never taught to ask for identification," noted the mother.

While the suspects, who include, Kurtis Edward Austin, 20, of Marmaduke, Ark. and Hornersville, Mo., Brian Kelby George, 24, of Arbyrd, Mo., and James Michael George, 20, also of Arbyrd, continued on with their spending spree, the victim was taken to Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center at Kennett for treatment of his wounds.

Unfortunately, the family of the victim is concerned not only with his recovery but with the expenses involved in the treatment he received, due to the fact that he was left with an empty bank account and currently has no medical insurance.

The victim's parents said local authorities, including Hornersville Police Officer Johnny Van Nunnery and Dunklin County Sheriff's Deputy Terry Keys of Cardwell, were able to locate and arrest the three men for their crimes.

According to Prosecuting Attorney Stephen Sokoloff, all three men have been charged with second degree robbery charges.

Sokoloff said two of the men, Brian K. George and Kurtis Austin, have also been charged with forgery and fraudulent use of a credit/debit device.

The robbery charge is a class B felony, forgery is a class C felony, and fraudulent use of a credit/debit card is a class D felony.

All three men were incarcerated at the Dunklin County Justice Center in Kennett.

A bond was set in the amount of $50,000 for Brian George, who later posted bond and was released to appear in court before Judge Stephen Sharp at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 14.

Michael George's bond was set at $30,000. However, he has yet to post the amount required to get out of jail, according to court records. He is expected to appear in court the same day as Brian George.

Austin is to appear in Division I court on May 9 before Judge John C. Spielman to determine whether or not he has been able to obtain counsel.

Yes I agree that this has became a yelling feud and never I meant for that. Let it be known, that I know one of these boys personally, and he IS willing to work when his job becomes available. He's had a rough road to travel as many of us have. So if we're not willing to air our dirty laundry online, then why take the time to gossip about other families when it is NOT our job to judge them. It makes me sad to know a place I call home has such inconsiderate people. At one time, it was a happy place where people got along and enjoyed watching those same boys play baseball. Now those same people are degrading them as strangers all due to a newspaper article. It's easy to hear something and be automatically convinced that it's fact. As MySon wrote, we need to stick to the facts and let it be. Justice will be served and hopefully everyone will be able to go on with their OWN lives and let others live theirs. Prayers go out for everyone involved.

I wanted to get on here to tell everyone that my son is fine. He got some bruises and his mouth had to have stitches in it but are out now. Thank you all for the support you have given and for the many prayers.

I was going to tell everyone they should stop the Cyber YELLING, because what was at first interesting has turned into a fued, which is completely dumb, and is stirring up emotions that are better left alone.

But for Cwelldrama:

Were you there? You will never make me believe, (this victim got out of his car first and started swinging,)right, anybody who knows him would never believe it either. You also said (he got what he deserved which wasnt enough) I guess you think that being robbed, beaten, and having his credit cards and stuff stolen and used were deserved? Also for your benefit, read the article again, nobody said Michael was on tape for the credit card either, but Curtis & Brian are on tape.

At first we wre all mad as hornets, and I still get mad, but this is just nuts, everyone needs to calm down, if my son isn't tripping out about it now, then nobody should, it will all work out fine. Let the Facts stand as Facts, and with any luck Justice will come from the judge tommorow.

wtf! yall people are crazy, you are juss going on what the paper says, you dont know the real truth, this victim got out of his car first and started swinging, he got what he deserved which wasnt enough cause he only got a busted lip...yall need to stop judging Michael, obliviously you dont know him or you would know that he doesnt have to have two people to whoop someone in arbyrd or newhere else in the bootheel for that matter.....and if you would actually talk to someone that knows what they are talkin about you would know that michael wasnt caught on tape, and didnt participate in the robery, so think twice before you start judging people again! and if nebody wanna confront me on this, juss gimme a call, im not a p**** about letting you know who i am! thank you and have a pleasent day...

OMG,WantingJustice can you NOT READ!!!! Obviously you cant because it says specifically in the article that the victim wants to be remained ANONYMOUS!!!

I am mind boggled for the comments you have sent. Saying that I must have homosexual closet moments. WHATEVER Im not the only one saying that!! And for another I cant believe your even gonna even think twice saying that there innocent until proven guilty!! Well they where proven guilty when they where caught on TAPE at Flash Market in Red Onion!! I don't think you can get much more evidence than that right there!!! And for another when you say that the victim didn't take the wallet to the police!! I don't know how true that is but I do know one thing IF he would or did find Austins Wallet he WOULD have gave it to the COPS and NOT went and spent it like those 3 idiots did!!!

You know it sickens me to even think someone would even do this to someone!! Not to mention that I'm almost positive that the 3 guys where older than and much bigger than him!! Its SAD that there to LAZY TO GET OFF THERE A** AND GET A REAL JOB!! But NO they have to go and beat up ppl just to have money!!!

And For the Cashiers at Flash Market and Riverside I think that THEY SHOULD ALSO LOOSE THERE JOBS!! Because they might not have beat the victim up BUT they approved the victims cards that the 3 CRIMINALS used!!! So they are in the same boat!!!

And Last but DEFINETLY NOT LEAST!!! My prayers and thoughts go out to the victim and his family!!! And for the 3 men I pray that JUSTICE IS SERVED!!!!

Well wanting justice, can You not read the part where the victim wanted to remain anonymous?

NO I should not have said that about the boy's mom's. Even the victims Mom thought it was wrong to point that finger, so for that I am sorry.

But as for "Our thoughts also go out to Ellen and James for their inconveniences, but do not understand how they can judge someone else's child when they were not witnesses to the crimes either."

The parents are not the ones who were "inconvenienced" they also do not have to judge them boys, they wish it had never happened, and were very mad at first, but they don't even talk about it hardly anymore unless some one asks something about it. But the law WILL take care of the thugs. THEY WERE CAUGHT REDHANDED WHEN THEY WERE USING THE STOLEN CARDS ON TAPE! So how does your little "Speaking of morals, how about the Moral of this story...Last I knew, it was innocent until PROVEN guilty in a court of law. Well, this newspaper article has already literally CONVICTED, not just CHARGED these boys with the crimes at hand. Therefore, how could any jury be biased in this matter? Once you've read this article, a picture is painted, but doesn't have any correct markings." the jury will see the evidence so what part of your STUPID moral story works into this? As for the "We are requesting prayer from the Calvary Church in Cardwell. Hopefully on Wednesday, which is court day, God will make sure justice is served, not moral man." How about you send the prayer request that these FREAKING THUGS stay in jail where they belong?

To all the narrow minded people:

I'd like to say that I know for a fact that David Buoy did NOT turn Kurtis's wallet in as I was the one who found his wallet beside the couch that he was laying on prior to the law getting them. I apologize to David for the hurt inflicted upon him, but as far as running Kurtis's family down, I find it childish since people do not know the facts. People's pasts do haunt them and although his mother may have once been a pill popper, she is now a law abiding Christian. Our thoughts also go out to Ellen and James for their inconveniences, but do not understand how they can judge someone else's child when they were not witnesses to the crimes either. I am not saying that the boys should get off, but I believe that the final conviction should come from the Lord above and not from the public. For those who think they should become someone's B****, sounds like they were having a homosexual closet moment. Speaking of morals, how about the Moral of this story...Last I knew, it was innocent until PROVEN guilty in a court of law. Well, this newspaper article has already literally CONVICTED, not just CHARGED these boys with the crimes at hand. Therefore, how could any jury be biased in this matter? Once you've read this article, a picture is painted, but doesn't have any correct markings. As half of the story was either falsified or incomplete. The DDD and the people who leave comments should remember that these boys have parents and family too. How dare anyone write something judging them or their family when you haven't walked a day in their shoes to know anything about them. I send prayers out not only for the victim and his family, but also for all 3 boys and their families for all that is being endured. These 3 boys may be family, but are separate individuals. Bryan and Michael shouldn't pay for Kurtis's mistakes and vice versa Kurtis shouldn't have to pay for theirs. We are requesting prayer from the Calvary Church in Cardwell. Hopefully on Wednesday, which is court day, God will make sure justice is served, not moral man.

What I Think Is...

First off I would like to state that I am a family member of the victim. He is doing fine now, no thanks to the PUKES that hurt him.

I would like to say that he is a WONDERFUL person, has a GREAT personality, is smart, friendly, and HE is an honest OUTSTANDING citizen. That is not because I am biased, IT IS A FACT!

AFTER THE FIGHT when he was bloody and beat to high heaven he found Austins wallet on the ground. What do you think he did?

HE TURNED IT IN TO THE LAW!!! Why? It was never even a question to him of what to do with it.Because his parents raised him right!!!

His Mom isn't a pill popping - drunk like Austin's, nor has she ever been arrested, she has never been in trouble for stealing, let alone ROLLS of lottery tickets like the George brother's mother either. So I am a firm believer in the fact that if the children are raised by lawless people with no morals they will grow up to be lawless people with no morals. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree most of the time.

As for the past of these FREAKS, I think they should have been locked away last year when they beat up and robbed the man in Arbyrd, and threw him in a ditch at the compress. Or when they beat up the man at Cardwell. How bright is the family members who KEEP BAILING THEM OUT!!? LEAVE THIER BUTTS IN JAIL! THE IDIOTS MIGHT LEARN SOMETHING!! Save your money, it is obvious that if you bail them out they will do it again, and again. So you really smart, what happens when they kill somebody because you bailed them out? Are you willing to face the guilt that if you wouldn't have bailed them out that person would still be alive? Think about it! The blood would be on your hands too...

Also to the victim, find out who was working at Flash Market in Carwell that night, because Austin's little brothers girlfriend works there at night and if it was her then you know why she didn't require ID from them. If it wasn't her, find out who the cashier were, because they don't deserve to have their jobs if they can't do them properly.

i just want to say that i too went to school with the george boys and i agree they were nothing but troublesome little brats. and as for the victum i also know him personally he is a good man that did not deserve what these idiots did to him my only hope is that they pay for what they have done. and by that i mean prison and then they will see who the real "big bad boys" are. im sure it will be a lesson well taught.

-- Posted by wtf25 on Sat, May 10, 2008, at 11:46 PM

yeah I know those boys too. And this is not the first time they have done something like this. They have just gotten away with it. ANd I bet money the ones that posted bail will just run like they always do. I don't think they should have been able to post bail. Dunklin county needs to start being strickter on those who commit harsh crimes such as this. It's just not good enought!!!!!!

Good law enforcement. Good reporting, with pictures. "Smelly" bonding out of one thug. Were they drug tested, are they dealers?

-- Posted by Skeptisch on Fri, May 9, 2008, at 4:24 PM

I went to school with Brian, he was trouble then, skipping school, drugs, alcohol, smoking on campus. When you have parents that don't seem to care that is what happens. My heart goes out to the victim and family and hope and pray that all 3 of these huligans pay for what they did. Maybe it will open their eyes and they will see they are responsible for their actions.

-- Posted by mommyof4 on Fri, May 9, 2008, at 3:26 PM

yeah, they did a great job...Michael didn't even stay in jail a full hour and only had to post 150.00 to get out. Good job!!!

-- Posted by cardwellresident on Fri, May 9, 2008, at 12:28 PM

i went to school with the older boy name brian,an i thought he would never do something like this,i just hope they all 3 get the punishment they deserve,an that the family will somehow get the money for medical bills.. an that the victum is doing ok...

-- Posted by precious79 on Fri, May 9, 2008, at 11:05 AM

THANKS FOR A GREAT JOB OF THE LAW ,THESE MEN DID A GREAT JOB, THANKFUL THAT THEY GOT THEM OFF THE STREETS AND WHERE THEY BELONG.. MAY GOD BLESS THE HURT MAN.

WHAT A PITIFUL GROUP OF THUGS!

This is a SHAME! What kind of creeps would you think these are? Looking so proud in thier "MUG SHOTS", well I hope they look even worse when the Judge and their fellow inmates gets ahold of them! Maybe by putting their names and pictures in the paper and writing this very informative and factual story others will see they should steer clear of these HOOLIGANS! It may possibly keep the PUNKS from hitting a 3rd victim, in a 3rd town. Cardwell first; just a 3 on 1 beating, then Hornersville; a 3 on 1 beating with a robbery, who knows what would have come next, murder maybe?

THANK YOU TO JOHNNY VAN NUNNERY AND TO TERRY KEYS FOR DOING A GREAT JOB!
