Born May 12, 1920, in Faulkner, Miss., daughter of the late Berry Washington and Jennie Mae Walker Barkley, she was a cook at Deering Schools and a member of the First Baptist Church in Kennett.
On Dec. 10, 1937, in Faulkner, she married D.C. Reed, who preceded her in death on Nov. 6, 1988. She was also preceded in death by one son, Johnny Reed; two sisters, Marie Leat and Frances Hopper and three brothers, George, Bill and B.W. Barkley.
Survivors include one son, Kenneth Reed, of Kennett; two daughters, Emogene Wellington and Janie Click, both of Kennett; two brothers, W.C. and Cecil Barkley, both of Malden, Mo.; six sisters, Gennivee Thornton, of Hayti, Mo., Mary Tyger, of Houston, Mo., Lou Ward, of Kennett, Sally Bunton, of Holcomb, Mo., Brenda McDonald, of Malden, Minnie Croy, of W. Virginia and Dorothy Ennis, of Louisiana; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., today, Wednesday, May 7, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 8, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ed Jansson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers are David A. Wright, Jeremy Wright, James Hindmon, Randy Hindmon, Jeffrey Estes and Ricky Self.
