William "Bill" McMahon, 81, of Kennett, died Thursday, May 1, 2008, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Born Oct. 2, 1926, in Kennett, son of the late Thomas Andrew McMahon and Blanche Holtzhouser, he was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in WWII. He was a farmer and was self employed with his own trucking company. He served on the Kennett Fire Department from 1951 to 1988, serving 15 years of that time as fire chief.

He married Robbie Withrow, who survives.

Survivors also include two sons, Tommy McMahon and wife, Cheri, and Bobby McMahon and wife, Karen, all of Kennett; one daughter, Margaret Rooney, of Kennett; three sisters, Sue Gill, of Kennett, Alice Wilson and husband, Don, of West Memphis, Ark., and JoAnn Johnson and husband, Hoyt, of Ashdown, Ark., and five grandchildren, Courtney McMahon Patterson and husband, Dustin, Breah McMahon and Jonathan and Stephen Rooney, all of Kennett and Sara Rooney Garman and husband, Chad, of Bartlett, Tenn.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, May 3, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, May 3, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dale Rickman officiating.

Burial will follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery at Kennett.

Pallbearers are the Kennett Fire Department.

Honorary pallbearers are Bob Holder, Don Key, J.C. Skaggs, Jim Warrington, Jerry Sturgeon, Bill Kirby, Tommy Masterson, Don Wallace, Preston Churchwell and Steve Sharp.
