Darla Shires

Darla Sue Brodie Shires, 55, died Monday, April 28, 2008, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Born May 19, 1952, daughter of the late James Edward and Edward Maxine Brodie, she attended Caruthersville High School. She was of the Baptist faith and attended Kinfolk Ridge Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children, William Edwards, of Michigan, Brian and Shannon Edwards, both of Kennett, and Jeremy and Steven Chunn, Anna Liza Wright and Stephanie Rudd, all of Caruthersville; her companion, Danny Gurley; three brothers, Ronnie, Charles and Tony Brodie, all of Caruthersville; two sisters, Jackie Pendergrass, of Caruthersville and Debbie Conway, of Greenwood, Miss.; 19 grandchildren; one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Hale.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 30, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville.

Burial was in the Little Prairie Cemetery at Caruthersville.

Pallbearers were Steve White, Cory Pounds, Jeremy and Steven Chunn, Jacob Lopez, Jimmy Rudd, K.J. Brodie and Glenn Allen Davis.
