St. Louis--The Southeast Missouri State University College Republicans were the recipient of the 1st annual Missouri College Republican Chapter of the Year award. The inaugural award was presented to the chapter at the April 5th State Convention in St. Louis.

"In working with President Lucas Presson and the Southeast Missouri College Republicans over the last year, it became apparent that, as a group, they were the hardest working College Republicans in the state," said Jeremy Hagen, Chairman of the Missouri Federation of College Republicans. "The presentation of the inaugural Missouri College Republican Chapter of the Year award to Southeast Missouri State was merely the culmination of something I already knew to be true."

Southeast Missouri State University College Republican President Lucas Presson accepted the award on behalf of the organization. "The Southeast College Republicans are honored to be recognized for this inaugural award," said Presson. "Many of our members have put in a tremendous amount of work. However, our Executive Board consisting of Jeff Earl, Scott Clark, Travis Eakin, Hillary Jordan, and Dan Dial along with Advisor Dr. Dean Monahan have gone above and beyond to keep our chapter so successful."

The Chapter of the Year award was selected based on a point system. Each event the chapter hosted earned them a proportionate number of points. The Southeast College Republicans held events ranging from lectures to barbeques to conference calls. As well as sending students to the State Lincoln Days in Springfield, they also sent two members to the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington D.C. this past February. Southeast was the most represented chapter at the College Republican State Convention with 20 students registered
