Marion Elder
Marion Sherwood Elder, 79, of Malden, Mo., died Saturday, April 26, 2008, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center at Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Born Nov. 4, 1928, in Malden, son of the late Harrison Elzie and Lucy Wells Elder, he was a U.S. Navy and Air Force veteran, having served in the Korean War and WWII. He was employed at Arizona State Department of Developmental Disability, and was a member of the Second General Baptist Church in Malden.

On June 23, 1961, in Coolidge, Ariz., he married Alice Lavyon Dearing, who survives.

Survivors also include one daughter, Judy Gholson, of Millington, Tenn.; one brother, Glen Elder, of Malden; one sister, Eva Pesek, of St. Louis, Mo.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by one son, Harrison Elder; four brothers, Van, Donald, Fred and James Elder and two sisters, Margaret Allen and Emma Nell Dale.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m., today, Tuesday, April 29, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 30, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Gore officiating.

Burial will follow in the Park Cemetery at Malden.
