On the boys side Notre Dame placed first with 196 points followed by Kennett with 139 and New Madrid County Central with 105.
Demetrius Childress finished first in the 110-hurdles (15.69), second in the 300-hurdles (41.46) and tied for third in the pole vault (8-6), while teammate Will Johnson placed first in the 300-hurdles (41.07), second in the 110-hurdles (16.46) and tied with Childress for third in the pole vault. The boys finished second in the 4x800-relay (9:36.37) and 4x200 (1:37.62), and third in the 4x400 (4:02.58).
Tyler Daugherty placed third in the 1600-meters (5:00) and third in the 3200 (11:36). Blake Parr finished fourth in the shot put with a throw of 41-1, while Julio Hernandez finished third in the discus (119-10) and Jimmy Gooden finished fourth in the 400-meters with a time of 54.71.
"I am proud of the way the boys performed tonight," Kennett boys' coach Jim Tidd said. "They have been one of the best group of kids I have had the pleasure of coaching. When you have a group of kids who work this hard, they are bound to be successful.
"However it is hard to compete against a school like Notre Dame with the caliber of athletes that they have enrolled in school there."
On the girls side Dexter won with 156 points, while Kennett was second with 104 and Notre Dame third with 100.
Susan Shetley scored a meet-high 38 points with three first-place finishes in the triple jump (31-11 3/4), long jump (14-8 1/2) and the 100-hurdles (17.10) and a second-place finish in the 300 hurdles (52.98).
Sharika Walls placed first in the shot put (30-1) and third in the discus with a throw of 83-6 1/2, while Tamika Calloway placed third in the shot with a toss of 28-1.
Kennett came in fourth in the 4x800, 4x100 and 4x400-relays, while Jelesa Taylor placed third in the high jump at 4-6, third in the long jump (14-3/4) and fourth in the triple jump (29-10 3/4).
"I thought the girls did well due to some circumstances that we we're faced with," Kennett girls coach Marc Sherrell said. "At times it can be very frustrating with last-minute changes in who is doing what event, but somehow we seem to pull together as a team and take up the slack. We had girls doing things that they were not used to doing and doing them pretty well. My hats off to them."
Kennett's track teams wrap up the regular season today at the Riverbend Classic in New Madrid.
Golf
Tribe finishes fourth at districts
At Farmington, Johnathan Rogers and Ryan Richardson both earned all-district honors and qualified for the state tournament, but the Tribe golf team finished fourth at Monday's Class 3, District 1 match at Crown Pointe Golf Course.
Rogers carded an 85 and Richardson scored 89 and will play at the state tourney May 12-13 at Springfield.
As a team, Kennett shot 369 in miserable weather conditions, finishing behind district champion Farmington (324), Dexter (357) and Cape-Notre Dame (359).
Baseball
Cooter 4, Senath-H'ville 2
At Senath, the visiting Wildcats (14-2) broke a 2-2 tie with a two-run rally in the top of the seventh inning for the win.
Winning pitcher Zach Watkins walked and scored on Aaron McCaig's triple, then Seth Childers drove in McCaig to cap the rally.
Watkins pitched tossed six innings of three-hit ball for the win, striking out seven and walking three. McCaig recorded a 1-2-3 seventh inning for the save
Heath Horvath took the loss for the host Lions despite striking out 11 batters.
