A Kennett teenager was air-lifted to the Med in Memphis, Tenn., as a result of a beating that occurred Thursday night.

According to the Kennett Police Department's report, a 911 call came in at 9:19 p.m., Thursday, with the caller reporting that a 16-year-old male had been severely beaten and needed immediate medical attention.

The report indicated that the victim had gone over to the suspects home on Vinson St., in the Josephine-Jones Subdivision, which is where the assault occurred.

According to the report, once the victim arrived at the suspect's residence, the suspect began punching the victim in the face, knocking him to the ground.

Once on the ground, the suspect got on top of the victim and continued beating him.

When officers arrived they found a badly beaten 16-year-old, who was then transported by ambulance to Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett for treatment.

Because of the severity of his injuries, the victim was air-lifted to the Med in Memphis for further treatment.

Officers arrested the 17-year-old. He is currently being held in the Dunklin County Jail where formal charges of assault in the first degree are pending from the Dunklin County Prosecuting Attorney.
