HAYTI, Mo. -- It may have taken the Kennett Lady Indians a little while to get started Monday, but when they did, they were unstoppable.

The Lady Tribe erupted for 10 runs in the top of the fourth inning to break open a close game and also stole 14 bases on the day to roll past Hayti 15-1 in a Bootheel Conference game here at Al Jackson Field.

In girls' soccer Monday, it was Jackson 3, Kennett 0.

At Hayti, the Lady Indians (4-0, 3-0 Bootheel) were unstoppable on the basepaths, as eight players stole at least one base. Kalee Gore led the way with four, while Ciara Dewrock swiped three and Jordan Malady stole twice.

"We've been talking to the girls a lot about being more aggressive on the basepaths," Kennett coach Laurie Vaughan said. "They're getting more and more confident in their skills. We don't even have to tell them to steal -- they just do it on their own."

Kasey Ellis, Laurel Scales and Ashley Downs each had a pair of hits to pace the Lady Indians' 12 hit attack, while Scales also drove in three runs and the quartet of Ellis, Downs, Dewrock and Allyson Luce each had a pair of RBIs.

"I'm enjoying seeing the girls get up there and (be) aggressive at the plate," said Vaughan. "It shows in the amount of hits we've got in the four games that we've played. I look forward to seeing them continue to do that."

Haley Morrow also dominated pitching Monday, striking out 12 and allowing just one hit, one walk and one unearned run in the victory.

"Haley did a great job on the mound today," Vaughan said. "She looked confident. She mixed up her pitches extremely well today, which threw Hayti batters off. I was very pleased with her pitching."

The Lady Tribe travels to Bootheel Conference foe South Pemiscot this afternoon for a doubleheader.

At Indian Park, state-ranked Jackson jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the game's first five minutes, but other than that, the Lady Tribe played even with the area power, allowing just one goal midway through the second half.

"I was happy," Kennett coach Rick Bell said. "We came out sluggish from spring break, made a couple of mistakes there at the beginning and they capitalized like a good team would."

Kennett got a strong game in goal from freshman Alexandra Brown.

"She played well," said Bell. "Everybody played well except for about the first 5-10 minutes of the game. We were just a little sluggish, then we picked it up and played well. I was real proud of the way we played today."

The Lady Tribe heads to Poplar Bluff today.
