Born Dec. 8, 1916, in Hayti, Mo., son of the late Reggie and Leda Grinstead Green, he was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served in WWII. He was a member of the Ely Baptist Church in Kennett.
He married Agnes Vaughn, who preceded him in death on July 3, 2000. He was also preceded in death by one son, Charles Hampton; one daughter, Ruth Hampton; two brothers, Reggie and Howard Green; one grandchild, Nikki Hampton and one great-grandchild, Logan Jackson.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Mark Hampton, of Malden, Mo., and Raymond Hampton, of Mayfield, Ky.; two daughters, Thelma Luna, of Ruleville, Miss., and Melba Grisham, of Battlecreek; one brother, Henry Green, of San Fransisco, Calif; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, April 14, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Bud Evans officiating.
Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Hayti.
Pallbearers were Mark Davis, Keith and Kenneth Luna, Ashley Grisham, Adam Clark and Kevin Gilmore.
Honorary pallbearers were Bud Morcombe, Matt Meeuwsen, Russ Gilmore and Matthew Mobley.
