Betty Hoxworth

Betty Jarrett Hoxworth, 78, of Kennett, died Thursday, April 10, 2008, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Born Nov. 17, 1929, in White Oak, Mo., daughter of the late Andrew Marvin and Bessie Louella Davis Byrd, she was postmaster at the White Oak Post Office and a member of the Varner River Baptist Church.

She married E.H. Jarrett, who preceded her in death. She later married Bill Hoxworth, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth, Register Roland and M.V. Byrd.

Survivors include one son, Michael E. Jarrett, of White Oak; one daughter, Marla Reed, of Dyersburg, Tenn.; two sisters, Blanche Byrd Carter, of Kennett and Donna Sue Byrd Rollins, Arlington, Tenn., and three grandchildren, Jesse and Dustin Jarrett and Katie Reed.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 3, at the Varner River Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to the St. Judes Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.
