Kennett, Missouri - The Kennett Girl Scout Troop 141 celebrated Girl Scout Week by adopting the first baby girl born during March 10-14 at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center.

Born on March 10 at 8:30 a.m., weighing 6 lbs and 9 oz, Kymberlee Paige Cossey, made her debut at the very beginning of Girl Scout Week.

Delivered by Dr. Nelson Perez, the baby was 20 inches long. Her mother was a little surprised by the honor saying, "She's just arrived in the world and has already won something."

Kymberlee is the daughter of Tamara and Michael Cossey of Gideon, Missouri. She is the sixth child in the Cossey family and joins her sister and brothers, Shawna, 15, Kenny, 13, Logan, 10, Jacob, 7 and James, 3.

In addition to a baby gift basket the Girl Scouts make and bring to the new arrival, the scouts pay the first years dues for that child when they get old enough to be a girl scout.

With her mother and sister both former Girl Scouts, the family is eager for Kymberlee to carry on this tradition.

Members of Troop 141 include: Kristen McDaniel, Anna Kay Hilburn, Emily Scoggins, Katie Street, Jenny Lockhert, Kylie Stone, Chyann Coffer, Kate White, Laura White, Courtney McElhaney, Chandler Essary, Alexus Nelson, Leah Jo Hogan, Jericca Jefferson, Rachel Holdren, Clara Henderson, Sarah Seibenhuener, and Katie Kimbrell. The troop is led by Charolyn Hilburn.
