Myrtle Helen "BC" Bumpus, 80, of Clarkton, Mo., died Saturday, March 29, 2008, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

Born Dec. 2, 1927, in Morrilton, Ark., daughter of the late Edward and Mae Hendrix Bean, she was a member of the Church of Christ in Holcomb, Mo.

On July 29, 1943, in Paragould, Ark., she married L. Ray Bumpus, who preceded her in death on Nov. 7, 1982. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, James Plunkett and Robert and William Bean; three sisters, Laura Tarkington, Addie Brown and Martha Spain and one grandson, Richard Bumpus.

Survivors include one daughter, Phyllis Whalen and husband, Chuck, of Memphis; four sons, James Bumpus and wife, Brenda and Gene Bumpus and wife, Carla, all of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Bill Bumpus, of Holcomb and Ricky Bumpus, of Clarkton; one brother, John Lott, of Williamsville, Mo.; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 2, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden, Mo.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 2, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Crawford officiating.

Burial will follow in the Stanfield Cemetery at Clarkton.
