Gary VanZant, 71, of St. Peters, Mo., formerly of Paragould, Ark., died Wednesday, March 5, at SSM St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles, Mo.

Born April 3, 1936, in Manila, Ark., son of the late James M. and Sarah L. Austin VanZant, he was a machinist for Anheuser-Busch in St. Louis, Mo.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Morrow VanZant, of St. peters; three daughters, Kimberly G. Meyr, of New Wells, Mo., Marla J. Fahr, of O'Fallon, Mo., and Jamie C. Cowden, of St. Peters; one brother, Austin E. VanZant, of Arbyrd, Mo.; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Elizabeth A. Lane; one brother, James B. VanZant and one grandson, Richard F. Fahr III.

Memorial graveside services will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, April 12, in the Linwood Cemetery at Paragould.
