Born Sept. 11, 1923, in Hollywood, Mo., son of the late Samuel H. and Ethel Baker Davis, he was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He was a member of the Cuba Church of Christ, the American Legion of Hornersville, an officer of the Cuba City Police and a deputy for the Crawford County Sheriff's Department.
On Jan. 29, 1945, he married Bonnie Simmons, who preceded him in death. On April 22, 2002, in Cuba, he married Darlene Mathews, who survives.
Survivors also include one daughter, Constance Davis, of Irmo, S.C.; two sons, Vance Davis and wife, Gina, of Lakeworth, Fla., and Kevin Davis, of Cuba; one brother, Don Davis and wife, Sue, of House Springs, Mo.; three sisters, Gladys Farmer, and Thelma Jademan and husband, Bob, all of St. Louis, Mo., and Maxine McClure, of Fredericktown, Mo.; two step-sons, Roger and Wes Mathews, both of Kirksville, Mo.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; three brothers-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Dewey Odel Davis; a step-daughter, Linda Eagleson and brothers-in-law, Dwight Farmer and Gene McClure.
Memorial services were held at 11 a.m.,., Friday, Feb. 15, at the Cuba Church of Christ.
Burial was in the JDavid Doser, Sr., 62, of Campbell, Mo., died Monday, March 24, 2008, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
