Melvin Thomas "Tom" Robinson, 57, of Portageville, Mo., died Friday, March 21, 2008, at Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Born Nov. 24, 1950, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., son of the late Melvin Gerald and Ruth Davis Robinson, he was a veteran. He was in the construction business and a member of the Portageville First Baptist Church.

On Nov. 29, 1983, in Portageville, he married Karen Sue Springer, who survives.

Survivors also include four children, Vicki RuthAnn Robinson, of Seattle, Wash., Russell Robinson, of Tracy, Calif., Bobby Burks, of Portageville and Angela Randla, of Swansea, Ill.; three sisters, Patricia Hollingshead, of Portageville, Kathy Napier, of Caruthersville, Mo., and Edna Dry, of Cooter, Mo.; 12 grandchildren, B.J., Scotty, Chris, Larry Wm., Josh, Brittany, Jessica, Nicholas, Tyler, Alison, Christopher and Ashlyn and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Scott Burks; a sister, Donna Campbell, and his grandparents, E.T. "Bill" Robinson and Roy and Nora Davis.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Monday, March 24, at the Portageville First Baptist Church with the Rev. Todd Higgs officiating.

Burial with military honors was in the Portageville Cemetery.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Larry and Josh Faulk, Christopher, Scotty and Tyler Burks and Christopher George Randla.

Honorary pallbearers were nephews, Dave, Chris and Gene Hollingshead, Patrick Napier and Jerry Hill, Steve Springer, and granddaughters, Alison, Brittany, Jessica and Ashlyn.

John W. German Funeral Home in Hayti, Mo., was in charge of arrangements.
