Odell Dixon, 68, of Kennett, formerly of Pascola, Mo., died Wednesday, March 19, 2008, in Kennett.
Born Feb. 14, 1940, in Monterey, Tenn., son of the late Willie Walter and Pearlee Copeland Dixon, he worked for Pierce Farms in Pemiscot County, Mo., and Beaulieu of America in Georgia. He was of the Baptist faith.
On Dec. 26, 1978, in Pemiscot County, he married Ruby Lucille James, who survives.
Survivors include seven children, Randy Odell Dixon, of Tennessee, Sharon Denise Dixon Holland and Cathy Yvette Dixon, both of Pikeville, Tenn., Evelyn Dement, of Lakeland, Fla., Joan DeCourley, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Joyce Tumlin, of Atlanta, Ga., and Roger Boone, of Hornersville, Mo.; five sisters, Bessie Addison, of Winter Haven, Fla., Dora Ruth McCloud, Frances Dixon, Betty Dixon Farley and Wilma Chilton, all of Cookeville, Tenn., and 13 grandchildren, Randy Dixon, Jr., Teneka, Nolan, Anthony Eugene, Anthony Odell, Samantha, Jennifer and Whitney Dixon, Dallas David and Matthew Wayne Wilkey, Randy Powell, Kimberley Jensen, Jason Morgan and Christopher Massey.
He was preceded in death by a son, Tony Lee Dixon and one brother, Claudell Dixon.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., today, Friday, March 21, at the John W. German Funeral Home chapel in Hayti, Mo., with Bro. Dave Lewelling officiating.
Burial was in the Mount Zion Cemetery at Steele, Mo.
Pallbearers were John Tumlin, Larry DeMent, Christopher Massey, Jason Morgan, Terry Cooper and Hugh "Buddy" James.
