Lena Hopkins Willard, 90, of Marion, Ill., formerly of Gideon, Mo., died Thursday, March 6, 2008, at her residence.

Born Dec. 5, 1917, in Wise, Va., daughter of the late Milburn and Nan Black Beverly, she was a nurse and worked in her husband's medical practice. She was a member of the Gideon United Methodist Church, the Gideon American Legion Auxiliary, Missouri and American Nurses Association and Eight & Forty Voilture in Sikeston, Mo.

On Sept. 15, 1938, in Marion, Ark., she married Dr. Florian Goss Hopkins, who preceded her in death on Dec. 29, 1976. She later married Hugh W. Willard on Dec. 31, 1979, in Marion, Ill. He preceded her in death in Dec. of 1989. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Lillian Cornea and an infant brother.

Survivors include two dons, John Hopkins and wife, of Murrieta, Calif., and Alex Hopkins and wife, Eugenia, of Marion, Ill.; three granddaughters, Rhonda Erwin, of Denver, Colo., Candace Taylor, of Warrensburg, Mo., and Kelly Hopkins Morell, of Quito, Ecuador; three grandsons, Keith Hopkins, of St. Peters, Mo., Marcus Hopkins, of Holcomb, Mo., and Phillip Hopkins, of Streator, Ill; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 11, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden, Mo.

Burial was in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden.
