Raymond Best Jr.

Raymond Clarence Best, Jr., 60, died Thursday, March 6, 2008, at Blytheville, Ark.

Born Jan. 11, 1948, in St. Louis, Mo., son of the late Betty Ruth Wright and Raymond C. Best, Sr., he was a veteran of the Vietnam War and of the Assembly of God faith.

On April 10, 1966, in Marston, Mo., he married Alice Faye Reno, who survives.

Survivors also include three daughters, RaElla Ellis, of Rock Hill, S.C., Shawna DeLarber, of Kansas City, Mo., and Beverly Rogers, of Blytheville, Ark.; three brothers, Mack Whitmore, of Ripley, Tenn., and William "Bill" and James Anthony Smith, both of Caruthersville, Mo.; one sister, Ruth E. Smith, of Caruthersville; three grandsons, Austin and Andrew DeLarber and Logan Rogers and one granddaughter, Alexis Rogers.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Gerald Whitmore.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 10, at the First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Rob Titus officiating.

Pallbearers were Mack Whitmore, William Smith, Jr., James Anthony Smith, Rich DeLarber, Kenneth Ellis, Len Welsh, Austin Delarber and Greg Rogers.

Honorary pallbearers were Andrew DeLarber and Logan and Alexis Rogers.

H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.
