Kadon McKay

Kadon Michael McKay, 24, of Hayti, Mo., died Friday, March 7, 2008, at his residence.

Born Aug. 18, 1983, in Hayti, son of Nickey Hines McKay and the late Chief Barry McKay, he was a 2002 graduate of Hayti High School . He had served as Hayti Heights Fire Chief and was later employed as a jailer for the Pemiscot County Sheriffs Department.

Survivors include three sisters, Corbet Darby and husband, Harry, of Blytheville, Ark., Whitney Shuburte and husband, Bunk, of Steele, Mo., and Ashley McKay, of Hayti; his mother, Nickey McKay Ballagh and husband, Brad, of Hayti and his grandmother, Myrna Bain, of Hayti.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 9, at the First Baptist Church in Hayti with the Rev. Jim Pilcher officiating.

Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Chief Paul Sheckell, Sheriff Tommy Greenwell, Sgt. David Inman, Chief Deputy Joe Bryant, Patrolmen Davis Hartle and James Beaver.

Honorary pallbearers were Randy Crawford, Everett Householder, Billy Hooper, William Wheeler, Adam Hodel and Danny Brown.

A memorial fund has been set up at the First State Bank in Hayti.
