Joseph and Judy Scherer of Portageville, Mo. announce the engagement of their daughter, JoBeth Alison Scherer, to James Eric Williams, son of James and Melissa Williams of Portageville.

The bride to be is a 2005 graduate of the University of Mississippi and is currently employed as Community Manager of Development with the American Cancer Society.

She is the granddaughter of Gertrude and Winford Robison of Wardell, Mo., Jim and Maggie Disher, and Florence Scherer and the late Gilbert Scherer of Portageville.

The prospective groom is a 2006 graduate of Arkansas State University. He is currently employed as District Operations Superintendant Trainee with Bunge North America in Vicksburg, Miss.

He is the grandson of Lillie and the late James "Tiny" Williams of Portageville, and Christeen and the late Henry Overturf of Steele, Mo.

The wedding will take place at 1:30 p.m., May 3, 2008, at Saint Eustachius Catholic Church in Portageville.
