Born Jan. 22, 1925, in Steele, Mo., son of the late John Robert and Ethel Smith Pierce, he was a veteran of WWII, a truck driver and a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion Post 88.
On July 23, 1948, in Piggott, Ark., he married Georgia P. Bostic, who survives.
Survivors also include two sons, Joe Robert Pierce and wife, Lynn, of Wilmington, Del., and George Phillip Pierce and wife, Joyce, of Caruthersville; two sisters, Lavern Carter, of Caruthersville and Shelby Jean Ray, of Washington; three brothers, Frank Pierce, of Caruthersville, Jerry Pierce, of San Antonio, Texas and Harold "Buddy" Pierce, of Charleston, Mo., and three grandchildren, Chauncy Pierce, of Wilmington and George W. and Michael Pierce, both of Caruthersville.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Donald, J.R., Howard and Paul Pierce and two sisters, Marie Pratt and Elsie Sloan.
Memorial services with full military honors will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 21, in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield, Mo.
John W. German Funeral Home of Hayti is in charge of arrangements.
