Ruben Ruff, Sr., 91, of Hayti, Mo., died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008, at Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Born Nov. 6, 1916, in Widener, Ark., son of the late John a. and Ozzie V. Williams Ruff, he was employed as a farmer, school bus driver, postal worker, and a highway construction worker. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Hayti heights, a member of the local Masonic Lodge in Hayti and he also served as alderman for the city of Hayti Heights.
Survivors include his wife, Lila Mae Quinn Ruff, of Hayti; his children, Ira Dene Ruff, Ruben Ruff, Jr., and wife, Jo, Edward C. Ruff, Sr., and wife, Jo Ann, Freeda Ruff, Ossie M. Ruff, Curley G. Ruff and wife, Siretha, Elois A. Triplett and husband, Michael, Kenneth L. Ruff and wife, Rachelle, Percy Ruff, Ronald L. Ruff, James R. Ruff, Ruby M. Martin and husband, Lloyd, Robert J. Scruggs, Patricia Johnson and husband, O.Z., Torry Abbott and Prince Grant; two brothers, Robert Lee Ruff and wife, Elois and Price Ruff; two sisters, Quillar M. Robinson and Louise Tatum; a sister-in;law, Brenda Ruff; 40 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Theodore, Clarence, Cornelius and John Sam Ruff; two sisters, Reginger and Alberta Ruff; three grandchildren, Kourtney, Tabari and Kim Ruff and a great-grandchild, Kijuan Jones.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Faith Temple Church of God in Christ in hatyi with the Rev. Kenneth Ruff officiating.
burial was in the Homestown Cemetery at Homestown, Mo.
Pallbearers were Byron Ruff, Sr., Quentin Ruff, Sr., Edward Ruff, Jr., Tobin Ruff, Michael Colin, William Tollive and Ferlando Luster.
John W. German Funeral Home of Hayti was in charge of arrangements.
