Esther Lorene Guffey, 98, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., formerly of Malden, Mo., died Friday Feb. 1, 2008, at the Fountainbleau Lodge at Cape Girardeau.

Born Jan. 18, 1910 at Gibson, Mo., daughter of the late Luther and Elizabeth Pritchard Barnes, she was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church at Malden.

On Nov. 14, 1942, she married Fred Guffey, who preceded her in death on Jan. 4, 1996.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Harvey and Carl Barnes and an infant brother; two sisters Pauline Shepperd and Geraldine Judy Carlos.

She is survived by one son, Ted Guffey and wife, Gail, of Jackson, Mo.; three grandchildren, Juli Korshorek of Romulus, Mich. and Johnny Guffey and Shanna Strickland, both of Jackson, Mo.; two great-grandchildren, Justin and Aaron Korshorek of Romulus.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m., today, Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008, at the Stanfield Cemetery at Clarkton, with Rev. Aulden LeBlanc officiating.

The Bradshaw Funeral Home of Malden was in charge of the arrangements.
