Serge Adovelande and Barbara Bruden of Jonesboro, Ark., announce their engagement.

The bride to be is the daughter of Penny Lampkin of Rector, Ark., and Jack Bruden of Kennett and the granddaughter of Barb and Bob Hallum of Holcomb, Shirley Bruden of Kennett and the late J.D. Bruden formerly of Kennett.

She is a 2001 graduate of Kennett High School and attends Arkansas State University, where her major is social work. She is currently employed at Dean B. Ellis Library on campus.

The prospective groom is the son of Christian and Eeline Adovelande of Lome, Togo in Africa.

He graduated in Benin in 2000 and attends Arkansas State University, where his major is accounting. He is currently employed at Dean B. Ellis Library on campus.

The wedding will take place at 3 p.m., Feb. 16, 2008, in Jonesboro.
